Fixed Agitators with Internal & External Support for Sludge Treatment
These fixed agitators are specially designed for mud and sludge digesters, providing effective circulation, mixing and surface crust breaking in demanding wastewater and sludge-treatment applications.
The agitator incorporates internal and external shaft support, a geared speed reducer and a flexible coupling between the drive and agitator shaft. A dedicated seal-protection arrangement helps protect the shaft and drive assembly from the process environment.
For easier installation and maintenance, the agitator shaft can be manufactured in two sections connected by a strong bolted coupling, allowing the shaft sections to be separated when required.
A two-stage screw-type impeller is positioned at the lower end of the shaft. During operation, the impeller lifts sludge and liquid from the lower part of the digester through the circulation tube. The flow is then redirected toward the surface, creating circulation and helping to break up the sludge crust and reduce surface accumulation.
The resulting surface movement also improves contact between the sludge and available oxygen, supporting biological treatment processes where aeration and oxygen transfer are part of the system design.
These agitators are particularly suitable for wastewater treatment, sludge digestion and drilling mud applications where continuous circulation and prevention of surface crust formation are required.
Description
A heavy-duty fixed agitator specifically developed for mud and sludge digesters. The combination of a supported shaft, geared drive and two-stage screw impeller provides strong vertical circulation from the bottom of the vessel toward the surface, helping maintain sludge movement and break up surface crust formation.
